Wine Courses |

Our shop isn't just about selling great wines, beers and spirits - we believe learning about wine is just as much fun as drinking it (well, nearly...) We've been asked by our customers if we could run courses for them to learn more about the wine we sell, and we are happy to oblige! We already have one group about to start their 3rd term, and the pictures below show how much they enjoy themselves... If you fancy getting in on the action here's the details for the next courses... Introductory course Intermediate Course The course will cost £75 for 5 weeks of expert teaching from a WSET qualified tutor. Includes 5-6 wines per week and all course materials. |

In the picture to the left you can see our tutor Gill standing on the right, and all our students having rather a lovely time on their course. Many of them were a bit nervous about joining the course - meeting new people, not knowing anything about wine, not finding it interesting enough... I'm happy to say that all fears were cast aside very quickly as they all got to know each other and started learning about wine. They loved it so much they have just completed their second course and will be continuing with the intermediate course in January! |

"Thank you so much for organising the wine appreciation course – I really enjoyed it! I'll definitely be on the next course in the Autumn. I really like the idea of looking at different countries in depth as well as the grape varieties which we've already covered. I'm already looking forward to resuming my place in the naughty corner!" (Frances Clark - sitting on the right. Don't be fooled by the innocent appearance, she's got a wicked sense of humour!) |

"Can learning really be this much fun?!!? A big thank you to all those involved in organising the first Beginners Wine Tasting Course". If you like wine and you want to learn more, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, this is the course for you. Guided through what can be a complex subject with ease and dexterity, wine tutor Gill Nicol took a relaxed but informative approach to making the world of wine more accessible and frankly much more fun. I learnt a huge amount in five weeks but even better I tasted some fantastic wines that I probably wouldn't have even considered and had a great deal of fun doing it!! I'm really looking forward to signing up to the follow up course"
(Steve Tilley - in the checked shirt having far too much fun. He has even confessed to leaving a Boardroom meeting early to make sure he got to the course on time! Admirable!)

"It was a delightful experience with a great crowd and excellent teacher. I learned a lot about grape varieties covered; especially how taste can vary so much between different areas and countries. I'm enjoying drinking wine even more!" (Terry Green, 3rd form the left. A true gentleman with real zest for life!)
"The course was well thought out and cleverly constructed. The first week was very much a taster week (excuse the pun) to outline the subjects to come. The following weeks were clear, interesting and fun, well communicated by the ever enthusiastic Gill." (Trev Warner, 1st left. A legend in his own kitchen...) |

"Really enjoyed the Beginners Wine Tasting Course with Gill at Chester Beer & Wine. The atmosphere was very informal, the company was great, and we all had plenty of laughs as we actually learned something about wine! I would certainly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning the basics of wine tasting so that they can enjoy the experience all the more. If there's a follow-up, I hope to be there."
(Colin Clerkin, 5th from the left. Pretends to be sensible but secretly one of life's Bon Viveurs!)
